bacon bacon
What a relief after last week's episode. I can't imagine why the decision was made for that to be the season premiere, but it probably had to do with timing the fertilization plot properly. This episode, largely disconnected from the current major plot, was delightful primarily due to the inclusion of dancing and Kevin Bacon. Inviting guest stars onto an episode can be hit or miss, but this time it was a success, as it often is when the actor plays themselves.* This role is usually a self-deprecating one, which actually ends up making the stars look like they at least have a sense of humor. Kevin Bacon must have a particularly good sense of humor, since both his stinginess and his self-centeredness were magnified in this episode. Actors who play themselves in sit-coms must be decent people...unless they know this is true and are trying to look like decent people, which means...?
I don't see references to popular culture very often in comedies, since the show is part of the culture, but Will and Grace pulls it off quite well, making the show a more believable portrayal of the times.
