I really like the interaction between Doug and Carrie, but the sub-plots usually tend to be significantly less entertaining than the main plots. Although that was the case in this week's episode, the writers managed to make the sub-plot far better than usual by running it parallel to the main plot, resulting in the synergistic combination of the two plots.
Every time I watch an episode of this show, I am impressed by how entertaining it is without resorting to a gimmick. It makes me wonder how many decent shows out there I'm avoiding because the commercials make them look stupid. I don't remember what drove me to it, but once I gave this series a chance, I was pleasantly surprised.
