I did scream while watching this show. It was a silent scream, but powerful nonetheless. If Monica and Chandler's fight was supposed to be funny, it pretty much missed its mark. Sadly, however, I can't think of another reason this fight, and other similar scenes since the wedding episode, would be included in the series. It's possible that the writers intended the couple's fights to reflect seriously on marital issues, but it seems more likely that they were meant to poke fun at such issues. Just like with the annoying-baby plots, the purpose of Monica and Chandler's fights is too ambiguous: if they were tamer, they would be humorous pokes at marriage; if they were more exaggerated, they could be self-conscious digs at sitcom humor. As it is now, neither the start nor the finish of their fights seems reasonable. This is just another Friends plot device leaving its audience in limbo.

But, as you can see, I do still watch the show....
