Despite the catchiness of the series, and perhaps because of it, the show seems to be becoming less developed and more blunt. At the start of this season, the first episode didn't deal quite well enough with the specifics of the dramatic situation presented, and the next episode (this one) followed suit. To my surprise, the characters' treatment of the crying baby paralleled the treatment of a malfunctioning smoke detector in a previous episode, and so far Emma is more like a prop or a plot device than a character playing an important role. I'm a fan of the show's physical comedy, showcased nicely in this episode, but a little of both (situation comedy and physical comedy) would have been nice.
